“Firing up the Blackstone, smashburgers and waffle fries if u guys r interested” the text goes out to the whole band at 2:07 PM on a Sunday. A similar one went out at around 4 PM the day before. Two days in a row? why not? This is how Glunkty does the neighborhood hangout.
There’s a specific kind of magic that happens in Traverse City, when the sun shines bright over the pines and the smell of backyard fires starts to take over the neighborhood. This may look like the typical neighborhood hangout but it always has the potential to turn into something much louder.
Most of the Glunkty guys live a few blocks away, and as they hone their set list in the rehearsal space, the gathering opportunities become more frequent. There’s a raw, unpretentious quality to their music that mirrors these backyard hangs. Its soulful, community driven and carries the warmth of TC summer evening. It’s not just about playing the right notes, it’s about building strong friendships. Burgers, beer, shots in the shed, laughter, fellowship? It will be a lovely summer indeed!
Sounds like neighborhood goals to me, sounds like Glunkty!
